Parallel Radio Interview :
Can you tell us a bit about you?
I’m Tortoz, 25 years old french artist. I live in a town called Grenoble but France discovered me through my song “Camila” mixing trap and Latin music.
How would you describe yourself?
I think that what defines me the most is love. The love I have for my people, for music or even art in general. My parents raised me with these values and I try to transmit them every day, whether with my audience by my music or with my peoples outside the spotlight.
What other career could we imagine for you?
If I hadn’t made music I think I would have worked in another field related to art because I like being able to express myself through imagination.
What Music means to you?
Music represents my whole life, from birth till now, and I think it will never stop. My father’s a musician, I’ve always listened to music since my childhood. Today it has become like a drug, if I don’t create for a while I feel a void. I like creating new things, exploring new things, to build my own universe.
Favorite project you worked on?
I think the project I preferred to work on is “New Ventura” my last album. It’s a project that took me a lot of time to create. I thought about it and created it from scratch with my team and I really think that we brought something new to French rap, especially with the “trap latina” mix.
Your worst nightmare? Most beautiful dream?
My worst nightmare would be failing to do what I have in mind, failing to spread my music on a larger scale. I want to step up to make my peoples even happier than they already are. My best dream would be to see my parents stop working before they retire. If I can offer them that, I could be proud of all the work done.
I’m working on a new EP right now, it’s almost done. I have already shot several music videos in Montreal and the United States. I can’t wait to release them.
…What were you doing Saturday night?
Saturday night I was in Montreal with my best friend Karim. We went out to a club where my friend and producer Highklassified did a set. Me and Klass we ended drunk, as often when we see each other again …! Haha
What do you have in your pockets right now?
In my pockets I have earphones, my phone, keys to my recording studio and 80€. Everything you need to spend a good evening!
…A last word in french for our french readers?
“Merci à tous ceux qui me supporte chaque jour, merci à Parallel magazine pour l’interview et à mes parents de m’avoir donné la vie. Amen.”
